The colorful Concertino Cusqueño by American composer Gabriela Lena Frank is a perfect curtain raiser. The work’s folkloric melodies and dance rhythms are inspired by the composer’s own Peruvian heritage and her admiration for British composer Benjamin Britten.
The Rachmaninoff second Piano Concerto is one of the greatest, most recognizable works of all time. Daniel Hsu’s passionate performance will bring the house down!
The Sibelius No. 2 evokes the rugged landscape and fierce independence of Sibelius’ homeland with its sweeping melodies and powerful rhythms.
