Back by popular demand! Kentucky native Tessa Lark grew up with both bluegrass and classical music in her home. Beethoven’s Second Romance shows off her classical skills, while Love Letter, written by her fiancé, Michael Thurber, displays her versatility in other genres such as bluegrass, hip-hop, jazz, African and rock. Tessa is one of the fastest rising young violinists on the concert scene today. Her Zigeunerweisen will knock your socks off! Candide Overture kicks off the Philharmonic’s celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, while dance music by Aaron Copland and Johannes Brahms adds to this concert’s folksy feel.

We continue the 100th birthday celebration of legendary American composer, Leonard Bernstein, with the most groundbreaking musical of the 20th century. West Side Story is a modern day retelling of the story of Romeo & Julietthrough the rival gangs of New York City’s Jets and Sharks. Featuring an exciting mix of jazz and Latin music, West Side Story includes “Somewhere,” “Tonight,” and “America,” songs that have become true American classics. This concert demonstrates the EPO’s continued commitment to bringing opera and musical theatre to the Victory Theatre stage. It also furthers the Philharmonic’s collaboration with the University of Evansville Opera.
