The November Classics brings Around the World: A Global Journey of Music & Dance.  This re-imagined concert begins with Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa, composed for chamber string orchestra. This work crowns a series of Kilar’s compositions inspired by highland folklore. The EPO performs Milhaud’s  15-minute-long ballet,  La Création du monde, which outlines the creation of the world based on African folk mythology. As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of tango master Astor Piazzolla, the EPO Woodwind Quintet will be featured during Libertango ,  written while Piazzolla was living in Rome, is one of his most well-known works, which he referred to as “sort of a song of liberty”. The UE Mad Hot Ballroom Dancers will join the stage during this work.  Concluding the program, Guest Artist Alan Snow, Violin and Concertmaster of the EPO will be highlighted during “Spring” and “Summer” from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, which includes hints of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.

(UE Mad Hot Ballroom Dancers will Prior to both performances of this concert include tango demonstrations by UE Mad Hot Ballroom Dancers with audience participation: Saturday, Nov 14 from 6:15 -6:40 PM and Sunday, Nov 15 from 1:15 – 1:40 PM.)
