Beethoven Violin Concerto
Stravinsky Petrushka (1947 version)
The EPO combines elements of theater and music in a program featuring masterworks by Beethoven and Stravinsky. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is one of the most famous violin concertos ever composed, and it is a work of great beauty. Meanwhile Stravinsky’s Petrushka is one of his most colorful and exciting scores. Originally composed as a ballet, the work is in four scenes that are set during the last day of carnival season in 1830s Russia. It is one of Stravinsky’s most technically demanding works that features the entire orchestra.
