What does it mean to be a Friend of the Maestro?

Being a "Friend of the Maestro" means that you value and appreciate Alfred Savia’s thirty-one years of service to the tri-state community through over 700 performances, and that you choose to help celebrate his vision, which has led to, among other things, the creation of two youth orchestras, the Eykamp String Quartet, Messiah, outdoor concerts, Nutracker and other ballets, Music Alive residencies, the commissioning of new works, concerts in outlying communities, and fully-staged opera!

The 2019-20 season will be Alfred Savia’s final year as Music Director of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. We are planning a year-long celebration of his 31-year tenure beginning in September with a Venetian Masquerade (this year’s Gala) and ending in April, 2020, with an unforgettable opera experience – Giacomo Puccini’s last great opera, Turandot!

The Martha and Merritt deJong Foundation, William E. Schmidt Foundation, Diamond Galleria and others have graciously committed to underwriting a majority of the costs associated with Turandot and the Venetian Masquerade. In addition, we are inviting our supporters to join “Friends of the Maestro,” a funding group that will help us celebrate the legacy of Maestro Savia through these two events. We have already received two lead gifts to get the ball rolling!

We hope we can count you as one of the Maestro’s supporters. Please take a moment to complete and submit the online form!
